PURSE AND EARNINGS
Purse - Enter the program or base purse for the race. This purse information should be denoted in the Official track program.
Add/Guar/Est - This field should be used ONLY for Stakes races. It is used to denote if the purse was Added, Guaranteed, or Estimated. You can enter this information by typing the first letter of the purse designation, for example A for added or activate the menu box using your mouse and highlighting the desired selection.
NOTE: There are two fields directly under the Add/Guar/Est field that are labeled Includes and Plus. You'll notice that these fields are grayed out meaning that you cannot add or edit information on this screen. To change any Includes or Plus purse amounts you must make those changes in the Race Header screen. The same is true for the Total Program Purse Field directly below the Includes and Plus columns.
Value of race - This field is used to record the sum of all the earnings paid to horses.
Reverts - This field is used to record the money that was available to be won, but was NOT awarded due to the fact that horses finishing in pay positions did not qualify for additional monies OR in some jurisdictions, when there are more pay positions than starters in the race, the money reverts back to its source.
Value to Others - This field is used to record purse monies that are NOT paid to horses. The most common examples are the Breeders' Cup races where we account for breeder and nominator awards from the Total Purse.
Total Available Purse- This is a read only field which displays the sum of all of monies available to be won in the race. It is calculated by adding the base purse and any Plus money (and nomination, entry and starter fees in Stakes races).
Not Distributed - Once the Value of Race has been entered, the Not Distributed box will be activated. The box actually works as a calculator, subtracting horses' earnings from the Value of Race and displaying a total of monies left to be distributed. As long as there is money left to be distributed, the Not Distributed box will be highlighted in RED. Once the totals agree, the box will be blank and returns to the normal screen background color.
Fin - This is a read only field that indicates finish position.
Pgm - This is a read only field that displays the program number of the horse that finished in the position indicated in the column to the left (Fin. - see explanation above).
Horse Name - This is a read only field that displays the name of the horse that corresponds to the program number and finish position indicated in the columns immediately to the left. (see Fin. and Pgm. above).
Earnings - The earnings boxes are aligned with horse names listed in official finish order. Enter the earnings for each individual horse. As with pools, you must round earnings to the nearest dollar using conventional rounding techniques (from 0-49 round down; 49-99 round up).
